A
really excellent recording, beautifully produced and expertly
packaged. The clever story retains it's charm and rye sense of
humor from the silver screen to vinyl and is very nicely and
sincerely told by Elizabeth Walker who, to me, bears a striking
resemblance to actress Nancy Walker, (There's Elizabeth up under
the microphone on the cover above. Take a look for yourself and
see if you don't agree). The "action" is vividly
realized and augmented by what appear to be the original
soundtrack recordings of the songs and score from the 1947
Republic feature film from which this offering was derived. And
what appealing songs they are! "Hum A Little Lovebird
Tune" and "Off To The Circus" alone are so, gosh
darned sweet and as contagious as the bird flu itself. If you
listen closely you may even recognize the voice of Pinto Colvig,
(the original voice of Goofy, Grumpy, Bozo and many other
characters) on the latter number. In fact, before you know it, you
may just find yourself tittering away with all your feathered
friends in the little town of "Chirpendale."
