Description
Another
season of Major League Baseball is underway and this week we
feature two gems to honor America's favorite pastime. Jackie Robinson,
who shattered baseball's color barrier and Brooklyn Dodgers teammate,
Pee
Wee Reese, both went on to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Lionel Barrymore, one of the most important actors of the 20th century,
narrates Casey at the Bat (subtitled A Ballad of the Republic), which was written in 1888 by Ernest Thayer.
See Week 43 (2005) and Week 31 (2006) for other baseball themed
recordings.
