Description
Albert J. Trace
(1900-1993) was a prolific American songwriter and orchestra leader whose peak of popularity was reached in the Chicago area during the Big Band era. Trace made a name for his Silly Symphonists band by performing the whimsical tune,
Mairzy
Doats, a novelty song brought to him by
his friend, Al Hoffman, who had co-written it with Milton Drake and
Jerry Livingston. Sadly, this rare set arrived with one broken
record, so it is incomplete. Even so, because it is an album of
songs and not a continuous story, we could not resist including it in
this year's schedule.
