UNCLE
DON ON THE FARM
Week
41
Description
"Uncle
Don" Carney was a popular children's radio host in New York
City. For over twenty years and as often as six nights a
week, he kept young boys and girls enthralled with his stories
and songs. Unfortunately, Uncle Don is probably best
remembered for a comment he made after signing off one evening
and thinking his microphone was turned off. "There! I
guess that'll hold the little bastards for another night!"
Even though there was no tape to prove his guilt and he was
never suspended from his show, he spent much of his life trying
to disprove the story. See Week 39 (2005) for another
Uncle Don set.
